'The land shall not be sold for ever: for the land is mine, for ye are strangers and sojourners with me.'

-- Leviticus 25:23

INTRODUCTION:

The purpose of this page is to try and determine the facts surrounding the conflict in the Middle East specifically, the Holy Land.  As a child I was exposed to the conflict in the 1970's and I remember thinking to myself, "Why don't the Jews just use the Scriptures to prove their right to the Holy Land".  Since then I have discovered why they cannot do that and have begun to understand just how complex the situation is.  The various religious and political factions have obscurred the truth and seem to have little problem with spreading out and out lies and self agrandizing propaganda.  I have decided to create a timeline of sorts that will allow me to track what was happening when and to whom.

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:

Leviticus 19:33

Do not oppress strangers in the land

33"And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him." (KJV)

Leviticus 20:22

The land will vomit you out if you disobey

22"Ye shall therefore keep all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: that the land, whither I bring you to dwell therein, spue you not out." (KJV)

Leviticus 25:23

The land belongs to YHWH.

23"The land shall not be sold for ever: for the land is mine, for ye are strangers and sojourners with me." (KJV)

The land belongs to YHWH.

51"Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye are passed over Jordan into the land of Canaan;" (KJV)

52"Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places:" (KJV)

53"And ye shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and dwell therein: for I have given you the land to possess it." (KJV)

54"And ye shall divide the land by lot for an inheritance among your families: and to the more ye shall give the more inheritance, and to the fewer ye shall give the less inheritance: every man's inheritance shall be in the place where his lot falleth; according to the tribes of your fathers ye shall inherit." (KJV)

55"But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell." (KJV)

56"Moreover it shall come to pass, that I shall do unto you, as I thought to do unto them." (KJV)

This is a very important statement as it means that he will drive them out of the land.  I have yet to find a reference in Scripture that states that the Hebrews or Israelites are supposed to return to the land and drive out the inhabitants that live there.

Deuteronomy 28:63

Banishment from the land

63'And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it.' (KJV)

Item Supporting statement Reference
Before the Hebrews first migrated there around 1800 B.C., the land of Canaan was occupied by Canaanites. "Between 3000 and 1100 B.C., Canaanite civilization covered what is today Israel, the West Bank, Lebanon and much of Syria and Jordan...Those who remained in the Jerusalem hills after the Romans expelled the Jews [in the second century A.D.] were a potpourri: farmers and vineyard growers, pagans and converts to Christianity, descendants of the Arabs, Persians, Samaritans, Greeks and old Canaanite tribes."
