Make home made solutions
How to make saline solution at home
Homemade saline solution requires the following:
4 cups of distilled or boiled (for at least 20 minutes) water
2 teaspoons (tsp) of non-iodized salt
an airtight storage container with a lid, such as a bottle
a mixing utensil
(To make a smaller batch, use 1 cup of water with one-half tsp of salt.)
If using tap water, boil it first for at least 20 minutes to sterilize the water
and remove any bacteria and chemicals. (I do NOT use tap water since it contains chlorine and fluoride)
Let it cool before use.
Avoid using sea salt, as it contains additional minerals.
Distilled method
- Add 8 teaspoons of table salt to 1 gallon of distilled water.
- Refrigerate for up to 1 month.
Equivalent Measurements
1 cup water
¼ tsp salt
7 ¼ tsp saline solution
¼ tsp hydrogen peroxide
1 cup = 39.96836 tsp
39.96 / 7.25 = 5.51
5.5 * .25 = 1.378225
1 cup saline to 1.378225 tsp 3% hydrogen peroxide
