Introduction:

The purpose of this page is to document scriptural references indicating the importance of knowing and using the true name of our Heavenly Father and HIS son the Messiah.

Many people have asked, "Why is the name so important? HE knows who we are talking about."

To statements such as these I would ask, "If you truly love someone with all your heart, and all your soul and all your might, wouldn't you at least know their name?"

Calling our Heavenly Father, the creator of all things, God is like calling your wife, Woman or your husband Man. It's simply a word describing their genre.

Calling our Heavenly Father, the creator of all things, LORD is like calling your wife, Misses or your husband Mister. They are simply words describing their title.

While both of these descriptors are grammatically correct, do either of them convey love or adoration?

Greek writer Celsus circa 177CE...

But of course they think otherwise: they assume that by pronouncing the name of their teacher they are armored against the powers of the earth and air. And they are quite insistent on the efficacy of the name as a means of protection: pronounce it improperly, they say, and it is ineffective. Greek and Latin will not do; it must be said in a barbarian tongue(Hebrew) to work. Silly as they are, one finds them standing next to a a statue of Zeus or Apollo or some other god, and shouting, "see here: I blaspheme it and strike it, but it is powerless against me for I am a Chreystian.

The Tetragrammaton

THE RESTORATION OF THE NAME

This is a historical record showing that at least up until the late 2nd century CE the followers of the Branch, the Mashiyach, were committed to calling Him by His Hebrew name Yod, Hey, Waw, Shin, Waw, Ayin..YHWShWA...Yahuwshuwa.

The true followers will worship the Father in Ruwach and Truth!

What I Discovered

After learning about the Hebraic roots of my faith, I was amazed to find how much religion had been distorted down through the centuries. When I learned the true name of the Creator, I was stunned to find that it had been removed from Biblical Scripture 6,823 times and replaced with the word LORD AND that the word 'lord' in Hebrew translates to the word Ba'al!

Anyone researching the name of our creator will discover the Tetragrammaton. While the definition of the word Tetragrammaton is up for debate, it is pretty much universally accepted (in English) as the letters YHWH. In Hebrew, the letters are Yod Hey Wav Hey (pronounciations differ). Due to problems with translation and transliteration, the pronounciation differ from culture to culture.

In this section, I am not going to attempt to debate linguistics but rather the meaning of the word. In King James Bibles, the word is generally translated as 'I AM THAT I AM' which never made much sense to me. What I discovered was that in the Hebrew Alphabet, each letter has a symbol, a meaning, a sound, and a numeric value assigned to this. Being a computer 'tech' for most of my life, I found this very interesting and immediately recognized the potential for encoding more information into a single set of letters.

I used the chart below to look up the meaning of the letters and was stunned to find that the letters could easily be translated to 'Hand' 'Behold' 'Nail' 'Behold'! Or in English, 'Behold the hand, behold the nail'!!! This would mean that when YHWH spoke to Moses on Mount Horeb and told Moses the name he was to use in front of the Pharoah, he was saying 'Hand, Behold, Nail, Behold'! This was more than 2,000 years BEFORE the Messiah walked the face of the earth!!!

Scripture References:

26'And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.' (KJV)

The first record of “calling on the Name of YHWH".

13'And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?' (KJV)

Translation Difference

15And Elohim said further to Mosheh, “Thus you are to say to the children of Yisra'el, YHWH Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Abraham, the Elohim of Yitshaq, and the Elohim of Ya'aqob, has sent me to you. Translation Difference

'22 “And you shall say to Pharaoh, 'Thus said YHWH, “Yisra'el is My son, My firstborn,'(The ISR Scriptures)

YHWH instructs Moses to use HIS name in front of the pagan Pharaoh. This seems to negate the Jewish belief that HIS name is too holy to speak.

Why is Jeshua's name spelled different in the book of Zechariah?

43'I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. ' (KJV)

12'Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.'(KJV)

45'Which also our fathers that came after brought in with Jesus into the possession of the Gentiles, whom God drave out before the face of our fathers, unto the days of David;'(KJV)

Names Related To Our Heavenly Father

I have started this list of names to demonstrate several points. First I'd like to show how common the name Yah, Yahu and Yahua are in the Hebrew culture. Second, I would like to point out an oddity that exists between the translation of a name and the transliteration of the name.

It seems more than a little strange to me that the Hebrew letters YHW almost universally are transliterated as YAH, YAH-OO and YAH-OO-AH but when they are translated (by the same source) the translation becomes JAH, JEH or JOH.
